Invaders 10 Eagles 4
The Invaders got some revenge and picked up their 2nd straight win in the process. Following a close 6-5 win over the Colonials last week, the Invaders did not want a repeat of what happened in their game against the Eagles 2 weeks ago. Last nights game started in similar fashion with the Invaders scoring the first two goals to go up 2-0 late in the first period. Andy and Zach Smith scored the first period goals for the Invaders but Eric Llewellyn scored in the closing seconds of the first period to close the gap to 2-1 at the end of the first period. Brandon Reiter put the Invaders up 3-1 early in the 2nd period but Zac Gray answered for the Eagles just seconds afterwards to close the gap to 3-2 and Eric Llewellyn set Jerred Amick up for the Eagles 3rd goal to even the score midway through the 2nd period. It was pretty much all invaders after that. Brandon Reiter scored a couple goals soon after the Eagles tied it and then Zach Smith set Andy up for the invaders 6th goal to give them a 6-3 lead and the momentum kept going for the invaders. Jason Stamler scored on a face off win to give the invaders a 7-3 lead and Laken scored late in the 2nd period to stretch the lead to 8-3 after 2 periods. Jason Stamler added another goal early in the 3rd period to put the invaders up 9-3 with Brandon Reiter later adding another to make it 10-3 before Denny scored in the closing minutes for the Eagles to round out the scoring for the game. The Invaders will get their first meeting of the season against the yeti next week while the eagles get their first meeting against the colonials. The Invaders are now 3-1 on the season while the Eagles are 2-1. Clint continues to play well in net for the Invaders.
Colonials 8 Bear Claw 4
Unfortunately, the Bear Claw will be playing with different line ups throughout the season. Last nights line up was a good mix of youth and veterans and it turned out to be a closer game than the Colonials were probably hoping for. The Colonials pulled away in the 3rd period thanks to a couple goals from Jay Edmiston, one of them came on a good pass from Phil Mace while the other pass came from Noah. Noah would later score a goal of his own while Brian had the other 3rd period goal for the colonials. The Bear Claw were missing Kaden in net opening the door for Adam to play a 2nd game in net last night. Adam got hurt skating out for the bear claw in last week’s game against the venom but was able to play a solid game in net to keep the bear claw in the game. Joe Spencer and AJ Cebulskie were available to fill in last night. AJ scored the bear claw’s 3rd goal to close the gap to 4-3 following a rebound on an initial save from John Matchock on a shot from Joe Spencer. The Colonials went up 2-0 early in the game following goals from Phil and Brian but Braxton answered for the bear claw to close the gap to 2-1. Noah made it 3-1 but Jaron Buffone scored for the bear claw to close the gap to 3-2. In the 2nd period, Noah set Brian up for a goal to push the colonials lead to 4-2 before AJ scored for the bear claw to close the deficit to 4-3 going into the 3rd period. The Colonials had a good 3rd period to close out the game. Dave Jewell and Matt Jewell also filled in for the Bear Claw to round out their line up last night. It was a good mix of veterans with Dave, Adam and Joe to stabilize all the youth with Jaron, Braxton, AJ, Coltyn and Matt Jewell. While not 100% official yet, John Matchock is most likely out for next week opening up the door for either Brian or Bob to goalie against the Eagles next week. There may be some growing pains for whichever one decides to give it a go. John Matchock played a solid game in the Colonial win last night.
Yeti 17 Venom 5
Following a week off, the Yeti picked up a 17-5 win over the Venom to improve to 2-1 on the season. Troy Gaydosh scored 3 times for the Venom while Jaron (filled in for Waltman) and Andrew Britton each added a goal for the Venom to help them hang around for a couple periods. The game was tied at 1 for most of the first period but the Yeti scored 3 times late in the first period to go up 4-2. It was a very well balanced scoring effort throughout for the yeti. Ben Rossi was not there last night but they had a good balance of scoring between Braxton, Dave Jewell, Jeff Wehner and RJ. Zach Foradori and Matt Jewell each scored a goal for the Yeti as well. The Venom closed the gap to 9-4 late in the 2nd period but the Yeti scored a couple quick ones to go up 11-4 after 2 periods before mercy ruling the venom late in the 3rd period. The Venom will look to bounce back next week against the Bear claw while the Yeti go up against the Invaders for the first time this season.
***Eagles and Yeti game got moved to February 16th. Games will be played at 6, 7, 8 and 9 on that night. We can try to move the games along as quick as we can that night so we can avoid getting done as late. First 3 games will be played in the same order with the Yeti and Eagles being slotted for the last game of the night.
