John Matchock and Jake Kline
1. This is your 2nd championship for the colonials as a goalie. How do you compare this one to the other one you got (if you can even remember that far back)? I vaguely remember. I had to find pictures. Anytime you win, it’s special. This one I think stands out because of the competition we faced. I don’t think we were given a chance. The way we played was top notch. That’s what we needed to win. 2. Invaders have a lot of firepower. What was your realistic expectation or goal

Colonials Clinch 5th championship
Colonials Save Their Best for Last The Colonials knew they would have to play their best if they wanted any chance of winning a best of 3 series against the Invaders. They did just that even though neither game started out too promising. The Invaders jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in both games. In each game, Brandon Reiter scored the first goal and Zach Smith scored the second goal. After the colonials answered in each game, Andy would go on to score the Invaders 3 r

Clink's Corner Plus Recaps from April 6th
1. 8-7 win over the Eagles last night. What can you say about the overall team effort in the win? The effort is always there! Has been all year! I feel like we did get a little outplayed last night but cashed in on the opportunities we had! 2. They threw a lot at you, especially early in the game. Were you expecting such a barrage of shots from them before the ball dropped last night? I knew I'd be busy! It's playoffs! They seemed to just have it staying on their sticks alot

Foradori's Final Thoughts
1. 9-8 loss last night. What can you say about the overall team effort in the loss? It was good. We got a little lazy toward the end. 2. The game went back and forth the whole way. What do you think was the deciding factor in the game? Well you know a Bob team is just going to pile up in front of their own net with a small lead at the end of the game. 3. The team did pretty good containing Noah but Bob had a break through game. What do you think went wrong in trying to contai

Invaders and Colonials Take Game 1
Invaders 11 Eagles 4 Bye weeks can sometimes affect momentum going into the playoffs, but that was not the case for the Invaders last night. At first, it looked like it may. Zac Gray made a return from a 5 week absence for the Eagles and immediately made his presence known when he scored just 15 seconds into the game. It felt like a double whammy for the Invaders since Gray was making his return on the opposite side while Brandon Reiter’s availability was unknown due to

Halpin's Hot Takes
1. 11-4 win over the Bear Claw last night. What can you say about the overall team effort in the win? Offensively, the shots we were taking looked great. Even some of the veteran goalies out there would have difficulty with some of the ones they put it. Movement wise, we looked better. We seemed to have our heads up looking for that next pass. Defensively, I know I shouted more than a half a dozen times "good defense" to the boys as they either took away a chance or blocked a

Yeti and Eagles Moving On
Yeti 15 Venom 3 The Yeti will get another shot at the Colonials following a 15-3 win over the Venom last night. They missed their chance at a bye following a loss to the Colonials last week but made up for it with last nights win over the Venom. Both teams played with a limited line up. The venom definitely could have used Cody Haag, Tyler Waltman and Jeremy Johnson. All three were present in last week’s competitive loss to the Eagles but they were missing some of t

Anderson Angle
1. You weren’t even 20 when you formed the XHL. Did you ever imagine it would still be a thing going into your mid 40s? Like most people, I don't think I thought anywhere near that far ahead. When Jim and I first started the XHL, my motivation was just to have somewhere to play hockey. There weren't any leagues around and there was no organization at all. I had no idea it would take off the way it did and that we would still be playing 26 years later. 2. You we

3 Stars Plus March 16 Recap
Noah, Jake and Brian had a couple goals for the Colonials while Dave Jewell and Jeff Wehner combined for 5 goals for the Yeti. Too many goals to keep track of in the Invaders/Bear Claw game, but Matt Jewell's late 3rd period goal stands out. Eagles appear ready for the playoffs following 2 good wins to end the regular season. Jerred, Eric and Denny each chipped in a couple goals in their 8-3 win over the Venom. Clay continues to play well in net. Tony had a nice stretch

Clink's Corner
1. 11-2 win over the Yeti last night. What can you say about the overall team effort in the win? The effort is always there! Everybody skates hard every single game and its showing! Great team win! 2. The game was close for 25 minutes or so, then you guys pulled away. What do you think you guys did better at as the game went on? I just think we wore them down with our constant pressure! Limited their zone time and I thought our possession game got better as the game went

Reiter Perspective
1. You played 2 games of hockey on Monday. How are you feeling following those games? I was pretty tired but still felt good to get the exercise. 2. It didn’t seem like you had enough time to work your way into the game filling in for the bear claw on Monday. When you were out there, did you like the added challenge of trying to keep the team in the game? Yes I did like the challenge. I don’t know that I was very successful with it though. 3. What did you observe from some of

Invaders 16 Venom 4 Brandon Reiter’s goal with 5 seconds left officially clinched the mercy rule win for the Invaders in last nights finale. The goal was Reiter’s 5 th of the night in what he hopes will get him back to scoring more goals as playoffs soon approach. Opportunities have been there for him all season long, but he has brought out the best in the opposing competition and the goalies this season. Opposing teams can only hope that last nights 5 goal night won’t

Yeti rally for 7-6 shootout win This didn’t feel like a normal game. The Yeti didn’t even know if they would have enough players when the 620 p.m. game horn sounded. A couple of their players thought they would need to make a trip back to Kittanning, but after 45 minutes of hockey, a 5 minute overtime and what felt like a 45 minute shootout, the Yeti found a way to prevail. In Bob’s post game interview, he mentioned that Yeti lost a lot of skill from previous seasons, but

3 Stars --- February 23rd
Match played another good game in net for the colonials and was a big reason why the shootout went on and on. RJ scored twice in regulation and once in the shootout to help the yeti prevail. Brian Anderson may have had his most complete game in net last night. Troy Gaydosh was all over the court for the Venom while the Eagles had some good connections between Denny, Amick and Llewellyn. Brandon Reiter and Zach Smith each contributed a couple goals for the Eagles. Solid
