John Matchock and Jake Kline

1. This is your 2nd championship for the colonials as a goalie. How do you compare this one to the other one you got (if you can even remember that far back)? I vaguely remember. I had to find pictures. Anytime you win, it’s special. This one I think stands out because of the competition we faced. I don’t think we were given a chance. The way we played was top notch. That’s what we needed to win.

2. Invaders have a lot of firepower. What was your realistic expectation or goal when going up against them in both games last night? I didn’t know what to expect to be honest. They have the fire power to make you look silly. I saw Clint against the Eagles. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. .

3. They got up 2-0 in both games ---- What was your mindset in each of those deficits? lol. Well, the first game I said here we go again. First shot, first goal. Jake told me to forget it. I had Tristan Jarry flashbacks. Second shot both games. lol. You just have to laugh. I knew we would get chances. I just tried to stop next one. All you can do.

4. Noah and Jake ---- What can you say about their play throughout the season? Noah is Noah. He can take over a game (to be that young). Jake. Jake. He was all over the defensive zone. He was laying out blocking shots. That kind of play made me relax and not want to give up a goal.

5. XHL has been going on for a long time now. Do you plan to keep playing longer if we are able to continue to get enough interest to put a league together? Good question. I would like to continue to play. As you get older, you don’t have the same stamina and abilities as you once did. It’s frustrating. mind says do this do that. But the hands, legs, etc say otherwise. You do it but in a much slower speed. I like the camaraderie. I’m competitive and can’t play to have fun. I want to win. Lol. I guess it depends on how I feel.

Jake Kline

1. 3rd championship in 4 years. How do you compare this one to the other ones?

I would say this one was a bit more of a challenge. Took a bit to click with all the teammates and a little different style than what the other championship teams I've been on. The knights were very skilled and very fast. The colonials are skilled and more layed back and are about setting the play which really worked out for us in the end. And me and noah wanted to beat them so bad and just fell short in the reg season games. But the colonials were able to beat them when it counted. Hats off to them though.  They still are a tough team without me and noah

2. You and Noah decided to jump to the colonials this season. What made you do it?  . Being this is going to be Noah's last year and probably mine we talked it over towards the end of last SRHL season and decided we wanted a change and to play with some other players. So we talked time and time again on what team to try to play on. Noah ended up talking to Bob one night then Bob drafted us to his team lol

 3. What was it like playing for this particular group of teammates? Like previous answer it was different play style took a few games to adjust but in the end it brought this team more speed which helped out and from what I've read in other interviews it brought more defense and in the end once again it paid off. I very much enjoyed playing on this team and with this group of guys

4. Another father/son championship. How proud are you of Noah’s play and how far he has come along in his short time playing hockey?  I am very proud of Noah's huge amount of improvement since he has started playing hockey. He is just like I am has to push himself to stand out to be better than others and if he is not he will push himself to get even better But there isn't a better feeling than to win the championship with him let me tell yeah. And that feeling don’t go away no matter how many you win together

 5. Speaking of Noah ---- he will be off to college soon. What kind of expectations do you have for him as he transitions from XHL hockey to hockey in college?   I think Noah is going to be great. He has some time on the ice but not much. But the time he has had he has improved.  So I think he might struggle a bit at first but after few weeks or so he will catch right on and I hope he stands out the way he does in our leagues we play here
