John Matchock played a large part in the Colonials opening night win against the Yeti. He only allowed 3 goals despite some high quality opportunities. His reward? Going back to skating out.
Who will be his replacement in net? Brian filled in for him on Monday against the Venom and also filled in for Kaden Coulter who was battling an illness on Monday night. For the first 25 minutes, Anderson only allowed one goal in the Bear Claw's game against the Yeti. We won't talk about the 3rd period.
Brian will not be replacing Match in net. So who will be? Bob was not able to play this past Monday due to arm and elbow discomfort and has been experiencing a lot of arm and elbow discomfort since the end of the fall league. He said he is not ready to go back to his usual role anytime soon but the thoughts of missing a good part of the season was not appealing to him. With that said, Bob is going to make a switch to goalie starting this Monday against the Invaders. Bob proposed the switch to Match and Match was ok with it. Bob knows there will be growing pains but thinks he can still be an asset to his team once he gets more comfortable in net. Chances are pretty good that he will get tested early and often Monday night against the Invaders. Brian even offered to defend one half of the net while Bob defended the other half. Match had warned his team before the season started that he would be missing a few games this season and Brian offered to goalie for him. Brian asked Bob if he could goalie against the Eagles since Match won't be there for that game. Bob's answer was ----- "no", I am going too. First thing is first, starting with Monday's game against the Invaders. Expectations are low, but he is just glad to get a chance to play again with less risk of making his arm worse.
We should have a good slate of games on Monday with the venom taking on the bear claw, the colonials taking on the invaders and the yeti taking on the eagles. Win or lose, Zach Foradori has already requested to be interviewed following Mondays game. Who knows, he could put up 7 goals against his former team on Monday? At least Josh Clontz won't be on the opposite side when it happens.
