Team Scyoc 12 Team Matchock 10

We were missing a lot of people last night, but for those who were there, its safe to say that they got to be a part of some exciting hockey. It actually looked like the first game between Team Scyoc and Team Matchock was going to be a mercy rule. A 4-0 lead for Team Scyoc after 1 got as high as 9-0 with around 5 minutes to go in the 2nd period. Tyler Waltman scored a couple goals just a couple minutes into the game. The only other regular skater on Team Scyoc, Andy Calvert, scored his share of goals to help stretch the lead to 9-0. They were missing Vinnie Deloia, Jason Stamler, Jeremy Sawey and Peach. Fill ins Steve Hetrick, Alex Waddell and Zach Foradori rounded out their team last night. John Matchock and Corey Bassett were missing for Team Matchock. Henry Sutter and RJ filled in. With the score 9-0, Laken Dodd scored 3 goals in less than 2 minutes to make it 9-3. From there, Matt Cole and Brice Miller provided 3 goals in less than another 2 minute stretch and it was suddenly 9-6 going into the 3rd period. Alex Waddell (fill in for Scyoc) scored on a long slap shot to stop the bleeding. They would add another to make it 11-6 but Brice Miller and Matt Cole got going again and made it 11-9 late in the 3rd period. Team Scyoc was able to hang on for the 12-10 win to help improve them to 3 and 2 on the season. Matchock's team fell to 1 and 4.

Team McKinley 10 Team Dodd 8

Team McKinley was the only team to have all their regulars there last night. Team Dodd was missing Bob Anderson, Cory Schuckers and Trent Bembenic. Brandon Reiter, Jerred Amick and RJ filled in for them. Team McKinley got off to a 2-0 lead after 1 period. Joe Roush got the scoring started early in the first period. No one scored again until Nate Galentine scored late in the first period to give McKinley a 2-0 lead. Adam McKinley prevented Brandon Reiter from scoring early in the game making several saves on him. In the 2nd period, Brandon Reiter set Brian Anderson up for a goal to close the gap to 2 to 1 and later set Jerred Amick up for a goal. Jerred Amick made a nice backhander late in the 2nd period to close the gap to 4-3 going into the 3rd period. It was the Brandon Reiter/Eric Llewellyn show in the 3rd period. Each of them scored 4 times as the teams were neck and neck late in the game. With McKinley's team clinging to an 8-7 lead, Zach Foradori and Alex Waddell helped stretch the lead to 10-7 less than a minute following a team McKinley time out. Fred Terwilliger would score on a nice shot following a save McKinley made on Reiter, but the ball found its way to Terwilliger's stick to the side of the net. Unfortunately for team Dodd, it was as close as they would get. Team McKinley has won 3 in a row. Team Dodd is now 1-4 on the season.

Team Sutter 5 Team Lingenfelter 4 (Didn't get to see much of this game) OT

Team Lingenfelter still managed to pick up a point that it didn't appear they would get as they found themselves down 3-0 with 5 minutes to go. Jake Kline finally scored to pull them within 2 at 3-1. Lingenfelter was missing Rooster (back problems). Nate Galentine filled in. Team Sutter was missing Steve Pompeii and Tony Conforto. Josh Clontz filled in to give them a sub. Kevin Smith scored twice in the first period for team Sutter to make it 2-0 and would end up scoring in overtime to give Sutter's team a 5-4 overtime win. The win improved team Sutter to 3 and 2. Team Lingenfelter lost for the first time this season but still earned a point when they rallied to tie the game late in the 3rd period.

Alex Waddell (Team McKinley)

1. You got to play lots of hockey tonight. How are you feeling? Pretty good actually. My back is a little sore but I felt like I still had a little left in me.

2. The team you filled in for nearly blew a 9 goal lead. Were you surprised it got that close? I was more surprised we were up as much as we were in the beginning. I think we got a little too comfortable with the lead but shut it down when we needed to.

3. How would you describe the team effort (for your normal team)? Tonight might have been our best night yet i think everyone is finding their places. Tonight may have not been the normal grey team but it was a solid team. To come out with a win was great.

4. The game was close throughout. What do you think made the difference? Adam made some huge saves tonight. I felt like we controlled the ball more but every time Brandon has the ball it’s a scoring opportunity. Adam made some great saves on Brandon and the rest of the team too.

5. You like the draft leagues better than the more competitive leagues? I like the draft leagues because any team can win every week. I still like the more competitive leagues too but I get to play with some different people in the draft leagues.

Josh Clontz (Fill in for Team Sutter last night)

1. Back on the wooden floor tonight. How did it feel? The game seemed fast, space seemed limited, and the ball bounces! It was alot of fun to play that fast pace again.

2. What can you say about the overall team effort ? Both teams gave 110% and the goalies were on their angles.

3. What was your impression of both teams? Both of them played well together, they move the ball well and cycle well. I have no idea what the rest of the teams look like, or even what any teams record is, but based on their performances last night both teams should be top contenders.

4. They overcame a 3 goal deficit in the 3rd period to force OT. What do you think went wrong? Ha! I honestly have no idea, with around 2 minutes to go we had a 2 goal lead so I went to get a drink and decided to take my skates off. I thought we had it wrapped up, but before my skates were unlaced we were starting overtime!

5. This game was more defensive minded than the first 2 games tonight. Do you like playing in those kind of games? I love any game that is close, I always say it's better to lose by 1 than win by 10. I think an 11-10 or 2-1 game can be equally exciting. Thanks Brian! Let me know if you need a fill in again!

Jerred Amick (Team Matchock)

1. 12 to 10 loss tonight. What can you say about the overall team effort considering your team trailed 9-0 at one point? It was quite the comeback. Brice and Laken lead the charge as we edged our way back into it, and actually ended up making a game out of it

2. You played again at 720. How did you feel after all the hockey? I’m pretty much used to it at this point and try to use it as an advantage to keeping up my endurance and stamina. I’m no Bobby Anderson, though.

3. What’s it like playing alongside Brandon Reiter? Glad to see him tearing things up again. I thought he played well and was on fire last night. He made a crazy angle shot on Adam and went top cheese perfectly.

4. How do you compare Reynoldsville and Brockway? I enjoy the puck. Always have. I can handle it better, move it faster, and dangle it better than a rubbery ball. It is nice though to know that you’ll be playin hockey 100% in reynoldsville, as opposed to rainouts in brockway. They both have their pros and cons.

5. You are working on a team for xhl. Do you have a full team yet? We are working on a team at the moment, trying to pull a page from interim healthcares’ playbook and getting ourselves a sponsorship. .
