Monday, October 28th Results

Standings after October 28th games:

1.       Sky Blue 6 (24/20)

2.       Gray 6 (27/20)

3.       Orange 6 (28/22)

4.       Black 4 (24/27)

5.       Red 2 (16/21)

6.       Yellow 2 (20/29)

Josh Clontz made his season debut for team Black last night and got to play in a hard fought 4-3 win over Team Red.  Jeremy Johnson filled in for team Red again and also got back into the reffing scene.  It may have been easier for him just to pay the fee to play.  Steve Hetrick was stuck on the bench for the final 5 plus minutes of Gray’s game over Yellow, but ended up playing a big part in their overtime win.  Sky Blue is no longer unbeaten following an impressive win for team Orange last night.  Only 4 points separates 1st place and last place after 4 weeks.

Black 4  Red 3

Team Black picked up its 2nd straight win after 2 losses to start the season.  John Matchock was not able to make it last night which opened up the door for Adam to play in net last night.  He did his normal thing in this game and again with his regular game at 715.   The game was tied at 3 going into the 3rd period until Andy scored just a minute or so into the 3rd period to give black a 4-3 lead.  Neither team would score after that.  The lineups looked pretty even going into the game and it lived up to it by the time it ended. (Andy, Amick filling in, Clontz, Conforto, Dodd with Adam filling in net) against (Noah, Jake filling in, Troy Gaydosh, Jeremy Johnson filling in, Peach and Henry in net).  Henry Sutter was injured in a league championship game in brockway last week but was able to continue playing in those games and in two games last night.  It may be hard to tell he was even injured.  Hopefully he will be good to keep going the rest of the season.  Noah, Jake and Troy Gaydosh each had a goal for red. Andy led black with 3 goals while Laken had the other one.

Gray 6  Yellow 5

Team Gray controlled the ball for about ¾ of the game, but there is a reason why Larry drafted Adam first overall in this league.   Adam used the first game to get into an even better groove for the 2nd game.  Team Gray must have had 40 to 50 shots flying Adam’s way throughout the night, but it took some luck to get the tying goal by him with a minute to go last night.  Despite all the shots from gray, Team Yellow played a defensive disciplined, opportunistic game and found themselves up 5-4 when Bob Anderson used Fred Terwilliger’s stick to throw Adam off just enough to get the tying goal past him. Steve Hetrick was stuck on the bench for the last 5 minutes of regulation, but got a chance to start the overtime session.  While he did not score the winner, he played a big part of the win when he found Zach Smith open in front of the net.   No goalie could have prevented Zach from scoring at the end after the nice set up from Hetrick.  Ben Rossi scored 3 goals for yellow, 2 of them in the first period.  Larry had one in the 2nd period and Brice Miller scored one with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd period to put Yellow ahead 5-4.  It was a minute away from being the game winner.   Zach Smith and Bob Anderson had all the goals for team Gray and could have easily had more goals if not for Adam’s stellar play in net.   Tony Dodd got left hanging a couple times on opportunistic goals for team yellow.

Orange 9  Sky Blue 3

Team orange bounced back in a big way from its loss to team red last week by defeating previously unbeaten sky blue 9-3 last night.  There wasn’t much doubt in this game after Orange scored 2 goals in the first minute and a half to go up 2-0.  They eventually found themselves up 5-1 by the end of the first period.  It was a good team effort overall, with Zac Gray, Joe Roush, Rob Reed and Jason Stamler contributing multiple goals.  Rob Reed scored one of the goals in the first minute to set the tone for the rest of the game.  Alex Waddell had several one timer shot opportunities turned down by Bubba but the damage for Sky Blue was already done after the first period.   Tyler Waltman led the way offensively for Sky Blue who went into the game undefeated.  Team Orange is now 3-1 on the season and should feel pretty confident after the complete team win last night.  Henry Sutter filled in for Clint and made some big saves early in the game preventing team blue from gaining any hope or momentum.  Cody Schuckers will be back in the lineup for Blue next week. Zach Foradori filled in for a missing John Matchock last night, playing another good defensive role while adding one of his nice wristers past Bubba midway thru the 3rd period.

We have notified each of the team captains of our fill in procedure going forward.  We want to make sure people get to play as much as possible but we have to try to be as fair as we can.  Regardless of what happens in the regular season, each team is guaranteed at least 2 playoff games.  We will have to be more strict with fill ins once the playoffs begin.   Noah Kline is simply getting too good for his own good these days.
