I just want to thank the Berta Nation for supporting me this year and for getting out the vote this past week. It looks and sounds like the Berta Nation has spoken and the winner for the 2010 XHL Sportsmanship Award is (dumb roll please!) #23 of the Phantoms Mike BERTA.
I'd like to take this time to thank everyone of you that voted for me and all: thank you Berta Nation without you this blog would not succeed. Nation I have been told that The Berta Factor is the #2 most visited site of the XHL web site. How did this happen? We are 2nd to the standings and stat leader page! I thought hard about how we can defeat the standings and stat page and I think I have done it again. The excellence that is the Berta is waging WAR on the stat and standings page till we are #1. The Berta Factor will show the top 20 in goals, assists, points and top 10 in penalties from this point on AND the rumor mill will begin this week. We shall be #1 Nation.
This week we all voted for the 1st ever Berta Award for the XHL’s Best Team Player. The votes were varied between the top 3. All three of the finalist no doubt deserve this award. The point totals for the top three were 72 points for 1st, 69 points for 2nd and 67 points for 3rd place. The finalist for the 2010 Berta Award are: John Matchock, Andrew Linden, and Greg Mohney.
Andrew Linden is one of the top three nominees for the Berta Award which will be given out by the Berta himself on Monday.
The opinions expressed here are the views of the writer and do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the XHL.
Congratulations to what your teammates and players in the XHL believe are the three top team players in the league! The Berta Award will be presented to the winner on Monady with all the other XHL Awards.
Now for the winners of all the other XHL Awards:
League MVP went to a great player and person. He was a nominee for the Sportsmanship award and will win the scoring title this season: Bob ANDERSON
Leagues Best Defenseman Award was won by a very dedicated person to his position and team. He was a big part of his team making the playoffs this season. Great job and season to this years top D-Man Shawn LOGAN
The Most Improved Player Award goes to one of the Berta Award nominees. He has put on a show this season at even strength and on the Power Play. Congrats to Andrew LINDEN
The Best Goalie Award goes to the P90X champ in the league. Here I am saying I'm retiring cause im getting old. This man got be by a few and is still kickin a** between the pipes. He is one of my favorite to watch play BOB “the birdman” WILLIAMS
The Rookie of the Year this season was in a league of his own. He was so good at goalie this year as a rookie he got nominated as one of the top 3 in the league! Congrats to a great young talented player Wyatt LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!
THE BERTA FACTOR RUMOR MILL:::::::
Here it is Nation with the playoff starting on Monday a lot of moves have already begun for next season. Some of the younger guys that have not been in this league before probably are saying moves for next season already? I say you know it!
The Rogue 1st…we all now know that Jerred AMICK is leaving to serve this country in the US Air Force. So who will replace AMICK? The Rogue has not been talking about this void in their team at all. But the Factor always hears his Nation talking. These are the 3 that have been tossed around one of the fab 3 from the Cyclones, Jeremy Johnson returning, and myself. Well I'll tell you for a fact its not me because I have retired unofficially and officially. Jeremy Johnson I don’t believe will be back again next season unless his work situation gets better. So I'm thinking a Cyclone or….HEITZER!!! Heitzer was once a Rogue back in the day so maybe Heitzer.
Venom is looking for playesr everywhere and I believe they have locked up two so far. Hots Shots Shawn Logan and Phantoms Ben Rossi have been in talks with Ryan Johnson for a new team next season. Not sure if it’s a new Venom or a new team.
The Schuckers brothers along with the Maniax Clay Halpin will be forming a new team next season. So what does this mean for the Maniax? The Maniax will be losing at least 2 or 3 players next season. I have heard that Smith is going to rebuild and start a new team.
The Sharks may lose Matt Sowl who spoke about taking a year of. Is the Moose done for next season and what happens if Jason Stamler come back?
It unknown what the Sting and Swash are doing for next season but they were an instant success in their first season in this league and class acts. Thank you both for a great season!
The Hot Shots will lose Logan for next season so who will replace him? Everything that I have heard fron the Hot Shots camp is that they are coming back for gold next season and Capt. Llew will once again play hard to win the Berta which he finished well in the points with 65.
The Cyclones have picked up Logan for next season but who are they losing? Like I said I heard 1 of em are going to the Rogue.
The Colonials look to be keeping everyone happy and are all coming back next season.
Then there is the High Rollers…one and done is what I heard. Where they all go is unknown but I know that A. Schuckers is starting a new team and he may bring a High Roller with him.
There are also two new teams in the works for next season. So expect 10-12 teams for 2011 but don’t expect Mike Berta.
Nation this may be one of the last Berta Factor due to a retirement that I have been warning everyone about for weeks now. You the Berta Nation have been great and this ride has been awesome. Two to three weeks from now there will be a press conference with Bob Anderson where everything will become official. Right now im 98.7% sure I'm retired but we never know what can happen with that other 2.3%. The interview with Bob Anderson will give my final decision on next season. So the Anderson Angle rating shall be going through the roof that week.
