It was in 2005 when the XHL announced it would begin raising money for a court expansion project. Since then, the league has eclipsed $10,000 in fundraising money since beginning this quest.
“I think raising that much money in three years is a testament to the hard work and ideas of many people throughout the league,” Anderson said.
“There is no way that the league officers can do this alone, and people have stepped up to the challenge thus far to get raise the money. From the people who run the concession stand, to the people who sell the tickets, to the people who buy the apparel, we say keep up the good work!”
Anderson said the fundraising committee will be meeting sometime next month to discuss the upcoming season, but the league will most likely continue to sell raffle tickets, apparel, and concessions like last year.
The raffle sales have produced nearly 70% of the fundraising profits in that time frame. Other sources include the application fee, the apparel, and concessions, with a few miscellaneous sources like the fastest shot contest as well.
“We want to do a better job of making sure everyone knows how much money we’ve been raising,” Anderson said. “It serves as an incentive to keep working and it shows the fruits of our labors.”
